A Better Experience for Hartford

After successfully revamping the City of Danbury’s website experience, Lumi Agency contracted me to work on a redesign for Live Hartford. The existing site was outdated, unapproachable and unsuccessful at drawing in new home buyers or renters. Although the site was simple in its user experience, it needed a better strategy if it was aimed to portray Hartford as a great place to buy or rent a home.

A simple site with 10 unique templates

When reviewing the existing Live Hartford website, it appeared incredibly simple—but boring. The site was seriously lacking in rich content and user engagement. With the client’s main priority to attract new home buyers and renters, the site needed an overhaul when it came to strategy and userflow. We needed to create an excitement for Hartford, and also an excitement to learn more about the different areas within the state’s capital. With Lumi’s office located right on Pratt Street, they suggested adding a neighborhood breakdown to match newcomers with the area best suited for their personality and lifestyle. After doing a full audit of the site and taking all the new suggested areas of content into consideration, I created 10 unique templates.

A New Brand for Design

Lumi’s internal design team put together a beautiful rebrand for LiveHartford and provided me with the assets and style guide. Working from the wireframes, I designed the new website with a focus on large photography and blocks of color so users could easily digest the content and find it relatable.
